Bute 6-1 Col glen
South Division 1
Bute continued their good form with a hard won victory over near neighbours Col Glen. Bute went into the match full of confidence after a resounding win, but more importantly a terrific performance, against Kyles the previous week. Bute started sluggishly failing to find the rhythm and tempo that was there from the first whistle last week. Col Glen took the lead after 3 minutes when some hesitancy in the Bute defence was punished by Neilly McNaughton whose low bouncing shot evaded the legs of Paddy Queen.
Bute drew level on 10 minutes when Iain McDonald fired home the equaliser with this goal relaxing the Bute players on the ball and we began to take control of proceedings. The game then turned into the Zeb Walker show with the Bute front man firing in 5 goals to provide the cutting edge to Bute’s dominance.
Bute defence of A Dunn, S Harvey, R Craig & J MacCallum were rarely troubled throughout the whole game with the centre line of C McKay, J Craig and A McKirdy keeping the ball in the Col glen half. Bute’s forward line of McDonald, Walker, F Devlin & C Fisher lacked the fluency of the previous week, however they cut the Glen defence open on more than one occasion and were unlucky not to score more goals.
Bute first team have 5 games remaining in this season’s league campaign; at home to Glenorchy, Taynuilt, Lochside & Aberdour with 1 solitary away trip to Kilmory in 2017.
